Olivia Murphy

LMHC, MSPE

I am a licensed mental health counselor and sport psychology clinician specializing in mental skills development, high-performance coaching, and mental health counseling. I work with high achievers including elite athletes, executives, and performing artists, helping them overcome challenges such as burnout, stress, and anxiety while building confidence, focus, and resilience. Through a blend of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and person-centered approaches, I empower clients to achieve peak performance in their personal and professional lives.

What should I expect in our first session?

From our very first session, you can expect a welcoming, collaborative space where we work together to strengthen both your mental well-being and performance. Our work is skill based, action oriented, and tailored to your unique needs—whether that means improving decision making, managing stress and anxiety, or developing long-term strategies for success. Using evidence-based approaches, we’ll focus on building resilience, enhancing self-awareness, and equipping you with practical tools you can apply right away. Most importantly, you won’t have to navigate this journey alone—I’ll be here to support and guide you every step of the way.

What do you specialize in?

I specialize in the intersection of mental health and performance, helping athletes, performers, and high achievers build confidence, enhance decision-making, and reach their full potential. My approach is grounded in evidence-based strategies designed to foster insight, prevent burnout, and support sustainable success.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Seeing that “aha” moment when someone realizes they have more control over their mindset than they thought. Whether it’s an athlete stepping into their confidence, a performer breaking through mental blocks, or a first responder finding clarity under pressure—that shift is powerful. Knowing I get to play a small role in someone’s growth and success makes this work incredibly fulfilling. Plus, I love celebrating those wins with my clients!

What inspired you to get into counseling and coaching?

As a former NCAA athlete, I’ve felt the mental highs and lows of competition firsthand. Combining psychology with performance was the perfect way to blend my fascination with human resilience and my passion for high-performance environments.

In another life, if you weren’t working in counseling, what would you be doing?

With my minor in studio art, I’d probably be a photographer, blending my passion for human connection with capturing people in their moments of greatness. I love the idea of telling stories through images and showcasing the resilience, strength, and emotion that make us who we are.

What is a self-care ritual you practice?

For me, self-care means being fully present, especially in the small moments with my toddler. Practicing presence and connection with her reminds me to slow down, embrace the moment, and find joy in the little things. It’s a daily reminder that self-care isn’t always about doing more—it’s about truly being where you are.
